A trip through the magical renderings of Disneyland. Take a moment and look around at some of the different projects I'm working on.

Entrance to the Mountain

Sorry for the long break between updates. I had finals this past week. But today was a rainy day so I got a lot done on the model.

I mainly worked a lot on the entrance into the mountain, as there's a lot to add here. I had a lot of problems with the previous things I had modeled and having to fix them which resets the textures on them and that takes a while to fix, but everything seems to be balanced and hopefully nothing tips that balance (as happened today).

Ok enough talk, here are the newest renders!

Remember you can click on the pictures to see a bigger sized image of them (it will open in a new window with the bigger picture).

early entrance
This is an early shot of the entrance area. I was working on that weird thing in the middle and I spent a while working on the metal look (It's never been right with me, but with my limited knowledge and computing power it's hard to do more).

Side entrance
This is the exact same view as the last shot, but now you can see the progress of the middle thing. Complete with the cast member station and glowing blue glass (I'm very proud of that).

Foggy glass
You can see from all these pictures that I was working a lot on this area. This turned out pretty good.

Entrance 2
This is pretty much the finished shot of the entrance. You can see the mural on the wall inside and you can see the finished ceiling in this room as well, complete with neon lighting!

And that's the update for this week. As for this scene it's pretty much done, I may try again on the shrubbery (it didn't go well at all, so I might not worry about it). I'm just waiting for a sunny day to go out and get some shots of the sky to mess around with that some more. Next I'll be moving inside the mountain and working on the queue there. But first I'll probably play around with a nighttime lighting set-up on the outside for fun.

Thanks for viewing!

We have shade!

Time for another update, this one is all about shade, well mostly.

I washed them
Ok I lied, we'll start off with a picture of the windows, I washed them and polished them and with the high render settings, they look great!

From afar
An overview of the upper queue. But wait, what's that? Could that be shade?

Birds eye view of the shade
A weird angle I will admit, but you can see some of the shade structure and the newly redone floor.

Shade!
One of my favorite shots, it took forever to get this right and have the light pass through it and leave a light blue glow on the ground from the blue fabric.

That's all for this update stay tuned for more 3D fun!

Starcade

It's time for another update!!

Recently I've been working on the Starcade building and it's taken a bit of work to get it where I like it. I'm not so sure on the color of the wall yet, I'll need to look at more photos for comparison in different lighting.

But here are some recent pictures.

it's a blue wall
This is looking at the new walls of the Starcade, you can see where the wall is set back for the windows will be placed.

other windows
Here are the windows, the reflection adds so much!

windows
The added support bars really add to the window and make it look great! Don't mind the green ground, that's just an area I was working on that hadn't been changed yet to blue.

I've also got a surprise video for this update!

I wanted to do a test animation render just for the heck of it. So I put together a video of some early shots and then the test video render. Keep in mind the video render doesn't have the settings as high as for when I do still shots. I did that so that it the computer would finish rendering before next week. Keep an eye out for the queue lamps that I haven't shown in any pictures before.

New update!

Work is progressing nicely on Space Mountain.

I've mainly been working on the landing pad area and have been again trying different daylight lighting systems. Which has been rather hard and time consuming.

But here are some of the new renders of what I've accomplished in the past few days.

Overview
This is just an overview showing some of the lighting on the mountain.

Newest lighting
In this shots the clouds don't really look like something you'd see around Space Mountain. But this was more of a test of HDRI lighting in the scene. I think the actual lighting on the mountain and the shadows look pretty darn good.

New planters
Do you like my dirt? I was just seeing how the dirt looked in the planters (I still need to tweak the shape of them to be more realistic. I'm not sure why I added dirt, all the shots from the regular person level won't even show the dirt, oh well, the future plants need something to grow in.

Newest lighting
The best picture in this update, the landing pad! This took quite a while to get right, and I think it's quite acceptable. Plus if I mess with it I'm afraid it'll be hard to fix.

Thanks for checking out this update!
